Personal Safety

You need to check with the governing body of your form of motorsport for the minimum safety requirement for your motorsport and class. However, you can never be too safe and more is best.

Head and Neck Restraint

I cannot stress the paramount importance of a Head and Neck Restraint. Simply.... they save lives. There are many brands on the market and this is a very personal item. It has to fit you and be comfortable.
Hybrid Pro, Hans, Leatte just to name a few. Do the research, try them on and check if it is FIA approved or approved for your form of motorsport. The ultimate is one that gives you front, rear and side impact protection. Size is important !!!! The carbon fibre models are the best for strength and weight

Helmet

Goes hand in hand with a Head and Neck Restraint. A Helmet needs to fit, be very comfortable and be suited to your head. Try them on with your balaclava if you are going to wear one. Aria, Bell the most popular brands. Carbon fibre for strength and weight. Nomex lining is best for fire retardant. Full face Helmets give you the best protection, they can have air vents, nose guards and be aerodynamic. Clear or tinted visors and quick release straps are available. You need to check that the Helmet is approved for your form of motorsport.

Suit and Accessories

Drivers Suits are made from nomex with nomex thread for fire retardant. They can be single, double or triple layer. Triple layer being the best. You can buy them off the shelf or have them made to fit. Again must be comfortable you spend a lot of time in it. Nomex underwear, balaclava (recommended to save your hair), gloves and boots (high or low) are all available. If you wear glasses make sure they are plastic lenses. Some drivers prefer to wear ear plugs. Remove your jewellery. Check to make sure everything is approved for your form of motorsport.
